RESEARCH & PUBLICATIONS

Research across environmental evidence.
From biodiversity to decision-making.

My research examines how environmental evidence is generated, analysed and communicated, with particular attention to environmental impact assessment, licensing, biodiversity data, public perception and quantitative methods.

RESEARCH PROFILE

Environmental research shaped by applied questions.

My academic work developed from a professional background in environmental assessment, biodiversity and technical evidence. Across MSc and PhD research, I have worked with questions involving environmental impact assessment and licensing, the quality and use of biotic evidence, public perception and information, biodiversity data, scientometrics and quantitative analysis.

I am particularly interested in research that connects methodological rigour with practical environmental decision-making — including how evidence is produced, structured, interpreted and communicated.

THESIS · ORIGINAL TITLE

Licenciamento e Avaliação de Impacto Ambiental: Percepção, Ciência e Desafios

The doctoral research sits within Environmental Sciences and connects environmental impact assessment and licensing with public perception, information and scientific evidence. The work included quantitative and scientometric approaches and contributed to peer-reviewed research on environmental laws, public perception and environmental impacts.

QuestionHow are environmental evidence, perception and information connected to licensing and impact assessment?

ApproachQuantitative analysis, structural modelling, scientometrics and environmental-science evidence.

OutputsDoctoral thesis and peer-reviewed publications in environmental assessment and perception.

DISSERTATION · ORIGINAL TITLE

O meio biótico nos termos de referência de Estudos de Impacto Ambiental de Usinas Hidrelétricas Brasileiras — A raiz dos problemas

The MSc examined the biotic component of terms of reference used in Environmental Impact Assessments for Brazilian hydropower projects. The work focused on methodological quality and on how requirements established before an EIA can shape the environmental evidence subsequently produced.

FocusBiotic evidence in environmental impact assessment.

ContextTerms of reference for Brazilian hydropower EIAs.

ConnectionResearch grounded in questions encountered through applied environmental practice.

COLLABORATIVE DATA RESEARCH

Contributing to shared biodiversity evidence.

Large biodiversity datasets are collaborative by nature. My role in the two data papers below is presented as a co-authorship and contribution within wider research networks rather than as individual project leadership.

ECOLOGY · 2022

AMAZONIA CAMTRAP

A collaborative dataset of mammal, bird and reptile records obtained using camera traps across the Amazon forest, published as a data paper in Ecology.

ECOLOGY · 2023

NEOTROPICAL FRESHWATER FISHES

A collaborative dataset of occurrence and abundance records for freshwater fishes across the Neotropics, designed to support ecological and macroecological research.

Authorship and contribution statements should be read at the level of each publication. Collaborative dataset papers are not presented here as individually led datasets.
